Frequently asked questions.
What is a solid state Isolator?
A solid state isolator uses MOSFET transistors to function as an electrical switch instead of using a mechanical set of contacts, like a relay. The advantage of the MOSFET transistors over a mechanical switch or relay, is the transistor does not increase resistance with use. Mechanical contacts become pitted from electrical arcing each closing and opening. The solid sate switch will maintain the same performance day in and day out.
Why do I need a 300A Isolator?
You may never need to charge batteries at a rate of 300Amps. An isolator that can safely handle that much current is by design ultra efficient. You can take advantage of that efficiency at all levels of charging current. In the case of a dead start battery, the isolator must efficiently transfer power from the auxiliary battery to the start battery during a jump start. Any loss of power due to an in-efficient isolator may be the difference between starting your vehicle and leaving you stranded..
What makes this Isolator different from others.
In a world where producing products as cheaply as possible for profit has become the norm, we chose a different path. Our product is designed with the highest performance in mind, where compromise was not an option to meet our performance goal.
The Isolator began as a personal challenge to make the lowest resistance solid state switch available. Our design required a unique way to pass large amounts of current through the device. To do this, the highest grade components and raw materials had to be used. Powerful, dependable and rugged enough so you don’t have to worry about the times when you need it the most. Nothing was compromised.
In addition the isolator measures the current flowing through it with no power loss. This is Unlike other isolators that use a separate, added on, shunt resistor that wastes power.
Will this isolator increase the power to my winch.
A Winch can draw hundreds of amps at start up and max pulling torque . If you were to loose even a half of a volt due to an in-efficient isolator that could be up to 150 watts of power that your winch can’t use. Instead it generates heat in your isolator. So yes using this isolator to parallel your start battery and auxiliary battery to power your winch, will give all the available power to your winch.
Can I jump start my vehicle with the aux battery.
Yes. It is as easy as pressing a button on the remote display.
Why do I need a display to run my Isolator.
The short answer is, you do not need the display for the Isolator to work. The Isolator and Display both have their own microprocessor and function independently. We designed our display unit to function as a dash board, to see at a glance if your multi battery system is functioning properly. You can see very accurately the voltages of each battery, The charging current going through the isolator to your auxiliary battery. Wether the isolator is on or off. You can see the internal temperature of the Isolator, if there is a over temperature fault, over current fault and more.
But if you decide not to use the display , that is ok, the isolator monitors all these things and controls everything for you.
